Coldwater Lobster Association recognized early on that our industry was facing many challenges and there was a need to establish sub-committees to ensure that the voices of ‘industry’ are heard and considered before any major decisions are made that may adversely impact our fishery.

The commercial fishing industry has witnessed an ever-increasing interest in our waters in recent years from energy companies looking to meet local and/or international demand, to aquaculture companies looking to expand their operations, to environmental groups identifying areas of ecological/biological importance in need of protection. To ensure that fishermen in LFA 34 are kept abreast of the issues facing our lobster fishery, Coldwater Lobster Association has formed several sub-committees to dedicate their time to attend meetings/conferences on these matters.
